Margaret M. Niemi, 91, Crystal Falls, passed away Wednesday, May 6, 2009, at Iron County Medical Care Facility, Crystal Falls. She was born February 16, 1918, in Amasa, daughter of the late William and Sanna (Peterson) Leanna. On April 29, 1939, in Crystal Falls, she married Ulias Ole Niemi. He preceded her in death on January 17, 1995. Margaret was a graduate of the Amasa High School. She enjoyed camping, cooking, family activities and coffee klatching with friends and neighbors. She was an active member of United Lutheran Church and Bible Study. Survivors include one daughter, Muriel (Robert) Graham; one son, James (Susan) Niemi, all of Crystal Falls; nine grandchildren, Sally Graham, Bob Graham, Sheree Raymaker, Randy Graham, Ron (Shyela) Graham, Diane Lucia, Christopher (Sandy) Niemi, Brian (Sabra) Niemi, Pamela (Tim) Ehlert; 11 great-grandchildren, Chelsea, Tricia, Ryan, Kayla, Taryn, and Firuza Graham, Eric and Mark Bergeron, Ryan Grace Ehlert, Niklas and Steffanie Niemi; three sisters, Betty Shoquist, Marilyn (Delos) Awry, Iron Mountain, Nancy (Morris) Heimerl, Crystal Falls; two brothers, William (Betty) Leanna, Boise, Ariz., Robert (Rita) Leanna, Amasa; two sisters-in-law, Helen Broman and Miriam Niemi; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; one daughter, Carol Pietrantonio; and three sisters, Selma, Pearl and Norma. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 8, 2009, at United Lutheran Church, Crystal Falls. The funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday at the church. Rev. Michael Laakko will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Crystal Falls. Pallbearers include, Robert and Randy Graham, Christopher and Brian Niemi, Tim Rossi and Jeff Heimerl.
