Obituary

On Tuesday, October 28th, 2008, Margaret Sadie Bandt, left those she loved most in this world and was met by her beloved family awaiting her arrival at Heaven's gate. She was born August 23, 1925, daughter of the late Michael and Sadie (Elias) Abraham, who came to this country from Lebanon. She attended and graduated from Iron Mountain schools, and later attended NMU Extension Center. Peg met and married Robert D. Bandt, Sr. on January 26, 1948. At the time, she worked for Michigan Bell Telephone Company then transferred to Chicago, Illinois, so her husband could attend graduate school at the University of Chicago. Afterwards, Peg and Bob returned to Iron Mountain and together established the Bandt Insurance Agency. She became a licensed insurance agent, helping Bob with the business and continued on, after losing her loving partner and friend on October 31, 1983. She loved to bake and cook for her family, teaching them her bread techniques. Peg also enjoyed walking and was seen for many years walking throughout the Iron Mountain-Kingsford area. Mom was raised with strong family values and passed them on to her family. She loved God first and family second. Peg's strength and love showed in everything she did and was the glue that held her family together. Her absolute love, loyalty and encouragement will sadly be missed. Peg's family was her life and she was ours. Her greatest joy was being a mother, grandmother, and a nanna to her great-grandchildren. Peg was anxiously awaiting the arrival of a new great-grandchild within the next few weeks. Peg is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Bob Gingrass, Breitung Township; granddaughters, Alexis (Tony) Vicenzi and Jennifer Nepper and Brett Nepper; two precious great-grandsons who brought so much joy and so many smiles to her face, Ethan and Evan Nepper; a caring brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Jean Abraham, Breitung Township; a sister, Virginia Gossan, Tennesee; a former daughter-in-law, whom she loved as a daughter, Kathy (Jim) Tomosaski, Norway; special friend and neighbor, Liz Adams who was always there to lend a helping hand; special nephew and niece, Rick and Sue Wagner, Quinnesec; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert, a son, Robert Bandt, Jr; and most recently her beloved grandson, David Michael Bandt. Peg was also preceded by four brothers, Sam, George, John, and Edward Abraham; two sisters, Katherine Stichman and Helen Wagner. Mom was so blessed to have so many people who loved and respected her strength, wisdom and loyalty, God be with you, mom.
