Obituary

Spread Eagle-Marcella (Marcy Jauquet) Baumgart, 90, of Spread Eagle, Wis., went to meet her Lord surrounded by her loving family and friends on Sunday, November 6, 2016 at Dickinson County Healthcare System, Iron Mountain. Marcy was born June 4, 1926 in Preble, Wisconsin outside of Green Bay, daughter of the late Frank Jauquet (1882-1968) and Clara Collard (1887-1933). Frank and Clara, operated a farm and owned a tavern on Finger Rd. Marcy's family embraced their Belgium roots of food (Booyah) and religious traditions. The work was hard but was rewarded with jokes, dances in the tavern hall, visits with family as well as church picnics at Holy Martyrs of Gorcum Church across the road. Marcy adopted these values and was always ready to pitch in with work to be done and fun to be made. Marcy graduated from East High School in Green Bay and worked for a short time at Kroll's East. After WWII she met a dashing, returning veteran, Kenneth Baumgart, and they married in 1947. He preceded her in death on September 19, 2016. They moved to Madison where Ken enrolled in college but shortly after, Ken reenlisted and they traveled together to various army bases in Texas and Kansas. When Ken was sent to Korea, Marcy moved with the family back to Green Bay. They settled there and together began the Ken Baumgart Construction Company. They enlarged their family for a total of six girls and six boys and continued the hard work and merriment that made life in the family successful and fun. In 1958, Ken and Marcy built a cottage in Spread Eagle, WI, where the kids could swim and play and Marcy could get out of the city. They made this cottage their permanent home in 1976 where she resided until her death. Marcy was a woman of great faith that truly embodied Christian values. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Florence, Wis. One of her greatest joys was regularly helping as a volunteer at St. Vincent DePaul in Florence, Wis. She was one of the "Vinnie's Ladies." Marcy was wise and practical, loved her flower and vegetable garden, always had a special spot in her heart for butterflies and hummingbirds, was a true Green Bay Packer fan, a wonderful cook and a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She will be greatly missed by all her family and her many friends and acquaintances. She is survived by her 12 children and respective spouses, Diane Baumgart (Myron), Kenneth C. Baumgart (Julie), Tom Baumgart (Victoria), John Baumgart, Bruce Baumgart (Betsy), Betsy Freiburger (John), Teri Sanborn (Bill), Nick Baumgart (Anne), Edie Baumgart, Sarah Baumgart, Ben Baumgart (Kelly), Ann Shears (Jim). Marcy also has 25 fun-loving grandchildren: Adam, Ana, Ariella(Ella), Kenny Robert, Scott, Andy, Matthew, Michael, Abby, Tyler, Joe, Karen, Therese, Will, Henry, Jackson, Emma, Cibel, Isaac, Samuel, Simon, Hannah, Chelsi, Clayton and Carson. In addition, Marcy has 15 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Ken, Marcy was preceded in death by five sisters, Marie Christiansen, Marge Tuyls, Irma Clark, Lou (Lucille) Benjamin, Rita Goltz, and her four brothers Walter, Francis, Ervin and Hubert (Hub). A visitation will be held Saturday, November 12, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Florence. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, 12:00 p.m. at the church. Rev. Fr. Matt Settle will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Commonwealth Wis. Memorial donations can be sent to the family. The Baumgart family would particularly like to thank the Dickinson County Hospital ICU staff for the especially loving care they provided to both Marcy and Ken Baumgart in their final days.
