M. Roberta Krause, 100, of Maryhill Manor, Niagara, Wis., passed away Thursday, September 9, 2010, at Dickinson County Healthcare System, Iron Mountain with her loving family by her side.
She was born on August 29, 1910, in Grand Mound, Iowa, daughter of the late John and Lula (Harrington) Kallenbach. Roberta married Harry Krause on June 16, 1927; he preceded her in death on June 28, 1955.
Roberta moved to Athelstane, Wis., when she was six years old. She resided there until moving to Niagara where she has lived since 1926. In July 1946, Roberta became the manager of the Niagara Mill cafeteria which was known as the "Snack Bar". She retired from there in 1973. Roberta was an active (and oldest) member of Riverside United Methodist Church, Niagara.
Gram & Aunt Rob's house was open to all who needed loving care and always a warm hug. She enjoyed visiting with friends at the Niagara Senior Center. Hobbies included sewing, baking, and traveling to many places.
Survivors include two daughters, Clarice (Kenneth) Anderson, North Lake, Ill., Dorothy (Harold) Duke, Niagara; eighteen grandchildren; many great and great great-grandchildren, one great great great-granddaughter, numerous nieces and nephews.
Roberta was preceded in death by one infant daughter, Barbara; one daughter, Joyce Pringle in 1998; one son, Harry "Bob" Krause in 1977; two sisters, Clare Butterfield, Rosannah Seehawer; four brothers, Leslie, Lyle, Harry, Howard Kallenbach; and one son-in-law, Gerald Pringle.
Visitation will be Friday, September 10, 2010, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Jacobs Funeral Home, Niagara Chapel, and Saturday, September 11, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Riverside United Methodist Church. The funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday at the church. Rev. Kyochul Shin will officiate. Burial will be in Niagara Cemetery.
