Lyle (Dee) Downs, age 72, of Beecher, Wis., passed away August 1, 2006, after a long extended illness. Dee was born April 22, 1934, in Amberg, Wis., the only son of the late Lyle A. and Thelma (Anglemeyer) Downs. He married Joan Doersch on October 12, 1999. Dee worked in the woods most of his life. He loved the outdoors and especially the northern woods of Wisconsin, and the Green Bay Packers. He lived his life to the fullest, and enjoyed every day. He had a heart of gold, and made numerous friends, young and old. He never met a stranger. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and later on in life loved to play golf. He also loved to play cards. He was loved by many, and will be deeply missed. We will feel a big void in our lives without him, but we know he has gone home now, and John, Bob, and Leia will be waiting for him. Survivors include his wife Joan, one son, James (Kitty) Downs, Stevens Point, Wis; two daughters, Kathy (Michael) Laubinger, Genoa City, Wis., April (Hans) Mortensen, Safford, Ariz; 11 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; three sisters, Phyllis (Art) Epping, Burlington, Wis., Sherry (David) Cluff, Stafford, Ariz., Linda Wolff, Pembine, Wis; and his two beloved dogs, Tillie and Stub. Besides his parents, Lyle was preceded in death by two sons, John Dee Downs, Robert Lyle Downs; and a great granddaughter Leia Rose Bondowski. Visitation will be on Saturday, August 12, 2006, 2:00 - 3:30 p.m. at Amberg Town Hall, Amberg, Wis. A Memorial Service will be held at 3:30 p.m. at the Hall. Dee requested that flowers be omitted.
