Luther Curtis Baker, Jr., 77, of Crystal Falls, Mich., passed away Monday, December 14, 2009, at Northstar Health System, Iron River, Mich. He was born May 26, 1932, in Hillsdale, Mich., son of the late Luther and Hazel (Strong) Baker, Sr. Luther grew up in Hillsdale. He married the former Mary Gordon, who he was married to for 50 years. Luther married the former Patricia Biggerstaff on September 22, 2006, at Faith Fellowship Church, Crystal Falls. Luther worked for Crawley Boiler Works, Jackson, Mich., as a welder for 10 ½ years. He then owned and operated Privey Delivery, a portable toilet business, in North Adams, Mich., for ten years. Luther enjoyed flying and owned his own airplane. He also enjoyed the time spent with his son, Wayne, hunting deer and bear. Luther was a member of Faith Fellowship Church. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Baker; one son, Wayne Baker, Crystal Falls; three daughters, Deb (Jessie) Murphy, North Carolina, Teresa Welch, Diane (Alan) Hull, both of Hillsdale; two sisters, Esther (Al) Brower, Hillsdale, Ima Jean, Jackson; eleven grandchildren, Jason, Jared, Nolan, and Kara Dobbelaere, Tommy Mathews, Keirston Jefferson, Jeremy and Carley Baker, Sherry, Mitchell, Crystal; many nieces and nephews. Luther was preceded in death by one grandson, Seth; and one brother, Robert Baker.
