Lucille Anna (Hilberg) Tegge, 80, of Crystal Falls, passed away Tuesday, August 24, 2010, at her home on Chicaugon Lake after a long battle with lymphoma.
She was born on November 23, 1929, in Iron River, Mich., daughter of the late Victor and June Thunander. Lucille graduated from Iron River High School, Class of 1948.
She married George Hilberg in 1948. The couple and their family eventually moved to Chicaugon Lake, where they established Hilberg Cabins. George passed away in 1979. Lucille owned and operated the business for more than forty years. She worked for many years at the Iron County Medical Care Facility, from which she retired in 1991.
Lucille married Richard Tegge in 1993. The couple resided on Chicaugon Lake, where they enjoyed the company of family and friends and continued to run Hilberg Cabins.
She was chosen as the Iron County Mother of the Year in 1971. Lucille was also a member of Bates Modern Homemakers.
Lucille was preceded in death by her husband, George; two sons, Raymond and Robert. Also preceding her in death were her parents, Victor and June; and sister, Carol Brooks.
She is survived by her husband, Richard Tegge; two daughters, Jeanne (Michael) Ferraro, Traverse City, Mich., Sandra (Kenton) Pfister, Omaha, Nebr.; four sons, Ronald (Diane) Hilberg, Crystal Falls, William (Rose) Hilberg, Escanaba, Mich., Gary (Diane) Hilberg, Crystal Falls, George (Patty) Hilberg, Crystal Falls; three step-children, Richard (Beth) Tegge, Marquette, Mich., Linda (David) Rajala, Covington, Mich., Steve (Kathy) Tegge, Troy, Mich.; twenty grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mavis (Donald) Larson, Tucson, Ariz., Alice (Terry) Lynch, Yelm, Wash.; several nieces, nephews, and close friends.
Visitation will be Friday, August 27, 2010, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Jacobs-Plowe Funeral Home, Crystal Falls. The funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 28, at the Grace Covenant Church, Iron River. Rev. James Swanson will officiate. Burial will be in Bates Township Cemetery, Iron River.
A memorial has been established in Lucille's name for the Iron County Cancer Unit, PO Box 45, Iron River, MI 49935.
