Lucille
Niemeier
Apr 1, 1945 — Apr 20, 2019
Lucille "Lucy" Eva Niemeier (Johnson), 74, of Florence, Wis., passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2019, at Florence Health Services, Florence, Wis., after a short battle with cancer, with family by her side.
Lucille was born on April 1, 1945, in Menominee, Mich. There she spent her childhood, before her family moved to Janesville, Wis., where she spent her early adult life. Lucille married Kenneth Soetaert in Janesville, Wis. On February 10th, 1978 she married David Niemeier. They then moved to Florence, Wis. where they lived their lives and made many lasting friendships.
Lucille loved to gather with her friends and family around the campfire, or hosting a fish fry. She was a great cook and would often attend Pot Lucks where she would bring one of her famous dishes to pass. Like her famous carrot cake, potato salad, pasties, or pie. She enjoyed bowling, darts and playing pool and won many trophy's she was very proud of.
Lucille was very talented with crafts and sewing. She sewed clothing for her siblings, her children, and a special anniversary dress for her mother. She crocheted beautiful doilies, afghans, hats and Christmas stockings with the child's name on them. There are many of her creations all over Florence County. She would lovingly make and donate them to local fundraisers. One of her favorites was the Florence Fire Dept. as they were family to her and her husband Dave.
Lucille is survived by three daughters, Kim Soetaert of Brooklyn, Wis., Teri (Jeff) Johnson of Janesville, Wis., and Lisa (Scott) Hare of Belleville, Wis.; grandchildren, Abbey Ace, Olivia Ace, Crystal Wiemiller and Kyle Sperry; one brother; Allen (Marilynn) Johnson of Janesville, Wis.; three sisters, Meryle Wilcoxen of Janesville Wis., Rose Hanewold of Janesville, Wis. and Susan Johnson of Janesville, Wis.;. four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Lucille was preceded in death by her husband, David Niemeier, mother and father, Donald and Emaline (Orly) Johnson; one brother, Ronald Johnson; and one grandson, Luke Sperry.
A special thank you to the nurses and aids at Florence Health Services for helping make her brief stay as comfortable as possible. Also thank you to so many for helping her out after Dave had passed and for just being her friend in Florence. As Lucy would say, she would not have lived any place else. "This is God's country".
