Lucille M. "Toots" Lawrentz, 93, of Florence, Wis., passed away Wednesday, October 17, 2007, at the Beverly Living Center, Florence. She was born in Florence, June 23, 1914, daughter of the late Henry and Emma (Erickson) Meyers. Lucille was raised in Florence and attended school there. Previously married to Edwin Olson, she later married Woodrow "Woody" Lawrentz on June 11, 1945. He preceded her in death on October 11, 2001. Lucille began work as a supervisor and bookkeeper in 1941, for the Niagara Telephone Company. She worked there for 13 years. She also worked as a correspondent for The Daily News for many years. Later she and Woody owned and operated the Lawrentz Sport Shop in downtown Florence for 35 years. In the winters, they traveled to Florida and Mazatlan, Mexico. Lucille enjoyed reading, traveling, and entertaining. She also enjoyed singing, and sang at many weddings and funerals. Lucille was a loving mother, grandmother, and GG. She is survived by two sons, Larry (Philomena Freda) Olson, Florence, James (Rose) Olson, Spread Eagle, Wis.; four grandchildren, Michael (Huisuk) Olson, Richmond, Va., Woody (Linda Tuma) Olson, Minneapolis, Minn., Jayne (Paul) D'Alberto, Sheboygan Falls, Wis., Rhonda (Alex) Yano, Newport News, Va.; eight great-grandchildren, Alex & Sylvia Olson, Andi, Chelsea, & Chase Yano, AJ, Kyle, & Abby D'Alberto; many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and two husbands, Lucille was preceded in death by three sisters, Carmen (Bert) Youngs, Laverne (Jim) Carroll, and Clara Kempka. Visitation will be Saturday, October 20, 2007, from 9:30 am to 11:00am at First Presbyterian Church, Florence. The funeral service will be 11:00 am Saturday at the church. Pastor Doug Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Florence.
