Iron Mountain: Lucille A. Florence, age 96, of Iron Mountain, passed away Sunday, March 6, 2005, at Dickinson County Healthcare System in Iron Mountain. Lucille was born April 6, 1908, in Crystal Falls, Michigan, daughter of the late Charles and Annie (Dahl) Richards. Florence attended Western Michigan University where she graduated with her teacher's degree. She later went on to Eastern Michigan University where she received her Masters in Special Education. Lucille married Kermit Florence in 1931 in Brimley. He preceded her in death on September 4, 1999. She taught school in Brimley, Grand Blanc, Michigan and the Dickinson Iron Intermediate School District as a special education teacher until she retired. Lucille was a very active member of the Iron Mountain-Kingsford order of the Eastern Star. Survivors include one son Richard (Judy) Florence of Herbster, Wisconsin and six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Besides her parents and husband Kermit, Lucille was preceded in death by one daughter Lolita Courney and one grandson Ronald Courney. Private family visitation and services were held. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Crystal Falls, MI in the Spring.
