Louis R. Vincent, 80, of Iron Mountain, passed away Monday, December 6, 2010, at Dickinson County Healthcare System, Iron Mountain. He was born on March 12, 1930, in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich., son of the late Henry and Julia (King) Vincent. Louis married Darlene Bush on September 3, 1955, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Trout Lake, Mich.; she survives. Louis grew up in the Rudyard area before moving to Sault Ste. Marie, at which time he started L.R. Vincent Truck & Service Inc. A few years later, he opened a more centrally located office in Manistique, and in 1974, he moved to Iron Mountain. Louis made L.R. Vincent Truck and Service Inc. his business from 1958 until he retired in 1992. Louis was a member of St. Mary & St. Joseph Catholic Church, Iron Mountain, Bishop Baraga Council No. 1585 Knights of Columbus in Iron Mountain/Kingsford, and the B.P.O.E (Elks) Iron Mountain Lodge No. 700. He enjoyed many hobbies including woodworking and especially spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-five years, Darlene Vincent; his two girls, Debbie (Bert) and Sherri (Steve); one sister, Pauline (Samual) Carter, St. Helen, Mich.; five grandchildren, Michael Boone, Phillip Boone, Jennifer (Dylan) Wilson, Jon (Kim) Anderson, Samantha Gerber; two great-grandchildren, Chynna and Lillie Wilson; many nieces, nephews, and an adopted member of the family and very special friend, Sr. Marcelyn Gervais. Louis was preceded in death by one girl, Amy; three brothers, Henry Jr., Paul, and Russell Vincent. Visitation will be Thursday, December 9, 2010, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron Mountain. Prayers will be offered Thursday 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary & St. Joseph Catholic Church, Iron Mountain. Rev. Greg Veneklase will officiate. Burial will be in Dickinson County Memorial Gardens, Iron Mountain.
