Louis C. LaFreniere age 81, of Republic, Michigan, passed away Saturday, July 29, 2006, at the Iron Mountain VA Hospital in Iron Mountain, Michigan.
Louis was born on May 25, 1925, in Brightmore, Mich., son of the late Louis J. and Mabel (Sears) LaFreniere.
Louis was a lifelong resident of Republic, Michigan, and a well-known gunsmith. He was an avid outdoorsman, and an excellent craftsman. He was well-liked and well-known in the community, and was famous for telling a good tall tale. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and was retired from Republic Township where he served in many capacities and was a member of St. Augustine's Catholic Church in Republic, Mich.
He is survived by is two son's; Dave LaFreniere of Republic, Mich., and Tim (Nina) LaFreniere of Iron Mountain, Mich; two daughters, Susan (Phillip) Bressette of Morrice, Mich. and Mary Goodreau of Iron Mountain, Mich.; and one sister-in-law, Joan M. LaFreniere of Escanaba, Mich.; 6 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Louis was preceded in death by three brothers, William Truckey, Joseph LaFreniere and Raymond LaFreniere; and two sisters, Lena Moose and June DeCosta
