Lotte G. Porter, 94, of Iron River, Mich. passed away Saturday, January 2, 2016, at the Iron County Medical Care Facility, Crystal Falls.

She was born in Berlin, Germany on December 22, 1921, daughter of the late Joseph and Martha Stroske.

Lotte married Franklin Porter in 1948, in Germany. She was a member of the German Armed Forces during WWII. Lotte and Franklin left Germany and made their home in Iron River.

She loved being with her family and enjoyed cooking and sewing.

Lotte is survived by two grandchildren, Kimberly (Norm Johnson) Wilcox, and her children, Noah and Lily, all of Kingsford and Scott (Tracie) Herzberg, and their children, Tyler, Jacob and Cole all of Traverse City.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Franklin, she was preceded in death by two sons, Norbert Porter and Rainer Herzberg and her sister and brother-in-law, Maria (Erwin) Herzberg.

A Celebration of Lotte's Life will be held Saturday, January 9, 2016, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel at the Iron County Medical Care Facility, Crystal Falls. Burial will be in Resthaven Cemetery, Iron River.
