Crystal Falls: Lorraine M. Jarp age 81, of Crystal Falls, passed away Saturday March 19, 2005 at Iron County General Hospital in Iron River, Michigan. Lorraine was born on October 28, 1923 in Chicago, Illinois the daughter of the late Daniel and Helen (Klein) Allen. Lorraine grew up in Chicago and attended school there. She married John Jarp on April 27, 1942 in Omaha, Nebraska. He preceded her in death in 1986. After being married they resided in Chicago for a couple of years before moving to Crystal Falls in 1946. Lorraine was a very active member of the Lakeview Bible Church in Crystal Falls. She was cofounder of the Faith Baptist Church and served as its Treasurer for many years. Lorraine enjoyed many hobbies including, crocheting, knitting and sewing. She is survived by, one son John (Diane York) Jarp of Bridgewater, New Jersey. One daughter, Carroll (Timothy) Ashlock of Arnold, California. One sister Gloria Barley of Shelburn, Indiana. One sister in law Elaine Gustafson of Crystal Falls, Michigan. Five grandchildren, four great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and their families. Besides her parents and husband John Lorraine was preceded by two brothers Robert and Daniel Allen. Private family visitation and services will be held at the Jacobs-Plowe Funeral Home in Crystal Falls. Rev. Rick Tarter will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Crystal Falls. A public memorial service will be announced in the spring.
