Lorraine "Gen" DeKerf, 84, of Iron Mountain, passed away Monday, November 10, 2008, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital, Iron Mountain.
She was born December 14, 1923, in Chicago, Ill., daughter of the late Eugene and Hortense (DeKerf) Barbeau. She married Patrick DeKerf on March 26, 1947, in Chicago. They moved to Norway in 1948, and then to Iron Mountain in 1994. Patrick preceded her in death on January 25, 1995.
Gen was a past member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Norway, Mich., a life member of VFW Ladies' Auxillary, a member of the Royal Neighbors of America, and belonged to the Norway Moose Lodge. She was the life of the party and had a great sense of humor. Gen loved to cook and spend time with her family; she was a very giving person. She was an avid Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears fan.
She is survived by one son, Steven (Barb) DeKerf, Sr., Chilton, Wis.; two daughters, Donna DeKerf, Iron Mountain, Patrice (Lindsay) King, Escanaba, Mich.; one brother, Alfred (Shirley) Barbeau, Downers Grove, Ill.; ten grandchildren, Duke, Kendrick, Patrick, Stevie, Derek, Marikay, David, Michael, Rebecca, Bernard; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild, Zachary; many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Thursday, November 13, 2008, from 2:30 pm to 3:00 pm, at Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron Mountain. The memorial service will be Thursday, 3:00 pm, at the funeral home. Fr. Joseph Gouin will officiate. Burial will be in Norway Township Cemetery, Norway, Mich.
