Lloyd
Mannigel
Oct 5, 1938 — May 11, 2018
Iron Mountain-Lloyd A. Mannigel, 79 of Spread Eagle, Wis. died on Friday, May 11, 2018, at the Iron County Medical Care Facility, Crystal Falls, Mich.
This is the last chapter in the life of Lloyd A. Mannigel. On Friday, May 11, 2018, this proud Marine was given his last orders, "It is time to come home." His loving family and nurse and angel Erica were there when he shipped off from the Iron County Medical Facility after his battle with Alzheimer's.
Lloyd was born October 5, 1938, in Milwaukee, Wis., to the late Lloyd J. and Johanna (Stam) Mannigel. In 1951 the family relocated to Kingsford, Mich. He attended Kingsford High School, played on the first football team to win the Barber Trophy in 1955 and graduated in 1956.
On August 15, 1959, he married Donna Minutello at St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Iron Mountain. They enjoyed 58 years together on the Chain of Lakes in Spread Eagle and wintering in Apache Wells Country Club in Mesa, Arizona.
Lloyd spent most of his life as a car salesman for Town and Country Ford, Ken's Motor Sales, and Edward's Chevrolet. He later purchased Century 21 Reality. Two of his proudest accomplishments were building his first home and his log cabin camp, with the help of family and friends.
Lloyd is survived by his wife, Donna, son Steve (Cindy Wender) of Spread Eagle, his daughter, Susan (Kimball) Brown of San Diego, Calif.; two granddaughters, Jessica Brown of Scottsdale, Ariz. and Katie Brown of San Diego, Calif. They brought so much joy to his life. In addition, he is survived by his brothers, Bob (Hannah Brown), San Diego, Calif., Rock (Pam), Pulaski, Wis. and Gary of Pulaski, Wis.; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He also leaves behind his best buddy, Gracie (Secondo) the Golden Retriever.
Lloyd was an avid golfer and was a member of both Pine Grove Country Club and Apache Wells Country Club in Mesa. During his golfing years, he was proud to say he hit seven holes-in-one! Fall was a special time because he was able to enjoy spending two months with Rock and Steve at camp making firewood, riding the four-wheeler, enjoying the high life (Miller's), and solving all the world's troubles. Family and friends were frequent visitors, especially at Thanksgiving. He had 42 years of fun family time! Yachting on the Chain of Lakes with cocktails and appetizers and sometimes brunch was a favorite thing to do. One of his special attributes was giving his family and friends nicknames that are still used today. Lloyd loved football and was a staunch Packer fan. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. His fondest memories were of fishing in Canada and going elk hunting in the Bob Marshall Wilderness in Montana with his brother Bob and good friend, Jerry Morelli. Lloyd and Donna also enjoyed many vacations to McAllen, Tex. Jamaica, Hawaii, Dominican Republic, Bahamas, and Cancun.
He was preceded in death by his in-laws Angelo and Jennie (Badini) Minutello, all of his aunts and uncles, several cousins and close friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 18, 2018, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron Mountain, Mich. The family thanks the VA Hospital and the Willow Unit at Iron County Medical Care Facility for their excellent care and compassion.

With a turn of his hat and a smirk on his face, he would say, "See youse guys later, eh." Semper Fi
