Lillian M. Shoemaker, 93, of Crystal Falls, formerly of Alpha, passed away Thursday, March 20, 2008, at the Iron County Medical Care Facility, Crystal Falls, where she had been a resident for the past two years. She was born April 6, 1914, in Alpha, daughter of the late Isaac and Amalia (Rintala) Seppala. She was the first girl child born in the new Village of Alpha, Michigan. In 1931 she married Edward Shoemaker in Crystal Falls. He preceded her in death on February 2, 1992. Lillian was a loving and caring mother and grandmother. She enjoyed so many people while living at the Medical Care Facility and considered many of the staff as family. She leaves a dear friend and fellow resident, Max Margoni. Survivors include one daughter, Donna (Paul) Young, Armstrong Lake; four grandchildren, Kelly (Linda) Young and great-grandchildren, Courtney and Casey, of Tulsa, Okla., Corey (Beate) Young and great-grandchildren, Katia and Janina, Frankfurt, Germany, Timothy G. Young, New Haven, Conn., Heather (Tim) Reavis and great-grandchildren, Keely and Madison, Tulsa, Okla. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one sister, Viola Kempa in 1998. In accordance with her wishes no visitation or service will be held. She lived a long and happy life and will be greatly missed. Burial will be in the spring at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Crystal Falls.
