Kingsford- Leota F. "Dodie" Wender, 75, of Kingsford, Mich., passed away Monday, March 20, 2023, at Marshfield Medical Center-Dickinson, Iron Mountain, Mich.

She was born on February 1, 1948, in Port Huron, Mich., daughter of the late George and Lorraine (LaFontaine) Cunningham. Dodie grew up in Ferndale, Mich., and was a graduate of Hazel Park High School, class of 1966. She worked as a nurse's aide at Freeman Nursing Home for 17 years before retiring in 1998.

Dodie enjoyed crocheting, doing puzzles, and, most importantly, spending time with her family and friends.

Survivors include two sons, Joseph and Wade Wender; one daughter, Jennifer (Ken) Kirchner; one brother, Lee (Carol) Cunningham; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Dodie was preceded in death by one daughter, Jamie Wender; one brother, Larry Cunningham; and long-term life partner, John "Jack" LaFreniere.

In accordance with Dodie's wishes, private family services will be held.

The family has chosen the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron Mountain, Mich., to honor Dodie's legacy of life.
