Obituary

Leon Laurier Fontaine, age 77, of Kingsford, passed away Friday, December 16, 2005 at the Dickinson County Memorial Hospital, Iron Mountain. He was born August 27, 1928 in Augusta, Maine, son of the late Leon Joseph and Juliette (LaRose) Fontaine. On December 3, 1966 in Dickinson County he married Sandra Wettstein. She survives. Leon retired from Ameritech (formerly Michigan Bell) in 1987 after 43 years of service to the telephone company. He was a former member of the Elks Club, B.P.O.E. Lodge of Iron Mountain. He enjoyed golf and his family, especially his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife Sandra Fontaine, Kingsford; four sons, David (Patti) Fontaine, Alpena, Richard Fontaine, Iron Mountain, Normand (Christine) Fontaine, Green Bay, Wis., Laurn (Regina) Fontaine, Peshtigo, Wis.; four daughters, Julie (David) Weir, Sault Sainte Marie, Laurel (Jim) Yankovich, Chassell, Laurie Wedin, Kingsford, Deborah (Mark) Fleming, Kingsford; 15 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren; one sister, Delores (Arthur) Burns, Manchester, New Hampshire; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Douque Fontaine. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 21, 2005, from 10:00 – 11:00a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, Memorial services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, at the Church. Rev. Michael J. March will officiate. Family will receive friends following the memorial service at the church. The Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron Mountain is serving the family.
