Obituary

Niagara – Lawrence Stanley (Ace) Voita, 89, of Niagara, Wis., passed away on Sunday, January 14, 2024, at his home.

He was born on April 9, 1934, in St. Paul, Min., to the late Stanley and Josephine (nee Rimnac) Voita.

Ace retired at age 62 and lived in Niagara for the past 40 years. He enjoyed the simple life in the north woods, family gatherings, his close friends, his pets from over the years, camping, hunting, car shows, and Packer football. He had a great sense of humor and was known for his many one-liners ("Aceisms"), often saying that retirement was the best job he ever had!

He is survived by his children; Nancy (Tim) Durr, Sheryl Voita, Douglas Voita, Christopher (Desiree) Voita, and Joseph Voita; grandchildren, Evan (Chrissy) Durr, Shawn (Mallory) Durr, Katie (Joshua McClure) Ray, Daniel (Kristin) Ray, Lana Frye; great-grandchildren, Caleb Durr, Micah Durr, Warren Durr, Emmett Durr, Daenerys Ray, Crixus Ray, Stefen Garcia Ray; sister, Jean Arvold; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife Shirley (nee Lapplander) Voita; stepchildren Darlene Lapplander and Michael Lapplander; granddaughter Nicole Lapplander; and sister, Irene Dallman.

A private burial will take place in the spring at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Schoolcraft Township, Mich.
