Obituary

Lawrence W. 'Larry' Thompson, 51, of Phoenix, Ariz., formerly of Iron Mountain, Mich. died peacefully Thursday, February 28, 2008, at his home in Phoenix. He was born October 30, 1956, in Leesville, Louisiana son of Michael and Judith (Tutas) Thompson. Larry was raised in Iron Mountain and graduated from Immaculate Conception Grade School and Kingsford High School. Larry was a free spirit and never met a machine he didn't like. He loved working on motorcycles and snowmobiles and enjoyed riding them with abandon. Larry was a great storyteller and amused all who listened to his yarns. Larry traveled across the country working as a pipefitter and ironworker. He finally settled in the warmth of Phoenix where he resided for the last 11 years. He is survived by his mother, Judith Thompson, Iron Mountain; father, Michael (Joyce) Thompson, Iron Mountain; brother, Michael (Judy) Thompson, West Lafayette, Ind.; two sisters, Lisa (Dave) Celello, Iron Mountain, Marcia Thompson, Kingsford, Mich.; a step-brother, Jim (Sandy) Burrows, Greenville, Wis.; three nieces and two nephews, who he adored, Brooke Thompson, Ashley, Joseph, & Miranda Celello, and Nick Thompson. Graveside services will be held in the spring.
