Obituary

Lawrence N. Giuliani, 74, Crystal Falls, passed away Wednesday, September 24, 2008, at Marquette General Hospital, Marquette. He was born February 9, 1934, in Stambaugh, son of the late Richard and Gena (Magagna) Giuliani. On September 3, 1955, he married Dale Eckola in Crystal Falls. She preceded him in death on April 17, 2004. Larry was raised in Stambaugh and graduated from high school there. He was a retired miner working in iron and coal mines. In 1962 he and other miners left this area and went to Sullivan, Mo. and worked at the Pea Ridge Iron Ore Mine where he was a shift boss until 1978. He then worked in Albers, Ill., at Monteray Coal as a surface supervisor until 1996. In 1969 as a scout leader Larry brought a dozen scouts to the U.P. and camped at Runkel Lake, Hiawatha, Isle Royale and went to Canada. He was a veteran of the National Guard, an avid hunter and fisherman. Survivors include one son, Michael Giuliani, Crystal Falls; one grandson, Michael Giuliani, Jr., one granddaughter, Kara Potter, and one great-grandson, Eric Potter. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and siblings, Hank, Albert, Geno, Richard and Corrine. Visitation Monday September 29, 2008, 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Guardian Angels Catholic Church, Crystal Falls. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Monday at the church. Rev Ray Zeugner will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Crystal Falls.
