Laverne A. Wait, 69, of Iron Mountain, passed away Friday, November 4, 2011, at ManorCare Health Services, Kingsford. She was born September 30, 1942, in Barberton, Ohio, daughter of the late Elmer C. and Sylvia (Aho) Niemi. Laverne married Donald Wait on September 17, 1990. He preceded her in death on November 12, 2004. Laverne attended school in Ironwood and graduated from Luther L. Wright High School. She attended Duluth Clinic Medical Secretarial School. Laverne worked at Franklin Park Industrial Clinic in Franklin Park, Ill. Laverne enjoyed crafting, reading, and crossword puzzles. She is survived by two daughters, Vicki (Tom) Flaminio, Iron Mountain, Kristi (Mark) Allen, Kingsford; two step-daughters, Sally (Kevin) West, Felch, Sue Gustafson; one brother, Dan (Karen) Niemi, Iron Mountain; six grandchildren, Jaime Flaminio, Nicole Flaminio, Giovanni Pedrotti, Dante Pedrotti, Dalton Allen, Noah Kidd; two nieces, Missy (Dan) Turini, Penny (Rick) Lewis; two special friends, Kay Pascoe and Margaret Flood. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 8, 2011, from 1:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron Mountain. The memorial services will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home. Rev. Douglas Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in the Breitung Township Cemetery.
