Iron Mountain:
LaVerne O. Prenevost, age 91, formerly of 414 West Hughitt Street, Iron Mountain, and for the last ten years a resident of Evergreen Assisted Living in Kingsford, died on December 2, 2004.
LaVerne was born in Iron Mountain, Michigan, on July 4, 1913, the daughter of the late Henry and Agnes (Hanson) Prenevost. She attended the Iron Mountain Schools. For many years LaVerne was an active member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church and was involved in many of the organizations of the Church-especially in the Sunday School Department where she served over forty years. She was employed by Dickinson County for the Children's Fund of Michigan Dental Program for eighteen and a half years. After the discontinuance of this program, she worked in the dental office of Dr. W. G. D'Amour for twenty-five years. She retired in 1975.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Bernice Prenevost Hicks and Vivian Prenevost; three brothers, Vernon "Pete" Prenevost, Donald Prenevost and Lester "Scratchy" Prenevost; and one nephew, Donald B. Hicks.
She is survived by a sister-in-law, Ruth Prenevost of Butte, Montana, two nephews, William (Lucille) Prenevost of Monroe, Washington, John "Jack" (Janice) Gibson of Morton, Illinois; five great nephews, Bruce D. Hicks, Devin Prenevost, Michael Gibson, John (Nancy) Gibson, Jeffrey (Alysia); two great nieces, Linda Hicks (Lazaro) Sanchez, Heather Prenevost; and four great –great nieces and nephews, Alexis and Marco Sanchez, Jean and Aubrey Gibson. She is also survived by many cousins as well as many friends.
Visitation will be at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church on Tuesday, December 7, 2004 from 10 -11a.m. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church with Pastor Stephen Cowen officiating. Burial will be in Cemetery Park in Iron Mountain.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her memory to Our Saviour's Lutheran Church.
