Laverne Edwards age 81, of Iron Mountain, Michigan passed away Monday April 24, 2006 at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain. She was born August 20, 1924, in Harrisburg, Illinois, daughter of the late Ira and Alta (Bean) Hill. She married Irvin Edwards July 17, 1945. He preceded her in death in 1963. Laverne was raised in Illinois, and lived in many areas throughout the United States, moving to Iron Mountain in 1993. She loved to play bingo, doing puzzles and being with her family. Survivors include one son, Charles (Christine) Edwards, Aurora; one daughter Connie (Jerry) Bartholomew, Iron Mountain; three brothers, Ira Hill, Rockford, Ill., Delbert Hill, Mt. Vernon, Ind., James (Carolyn) Hill, Poplar Grove, Ill.; three sisters Margaret Parker, Florida, Floy (John) Mosby, Mt.Vernon, Ind., Sharon Lynn Hill, Mt. Vernon, Ind.; three grandchildren, Charles Edwards II, Chad Edwards, James David Edwards; four great-grandchildren, Charles Edward III, Lynn Marie Edwards, Alexander Chance Edwards, Taylor Edwards; and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband Irvin Edwards, Laverne was preceded in death by two brothers, Bob Hill and Jack Hill, and two sisters Helen Hill and Wilma Hill. Visitation will be Thursday, April 27, 2006, 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Homes in Iron Mountain. Funeral services will be at 11:00 at the funeral home. Pastor Brad Moore will officiate.
