Laura H. Wiggins, 92, of Crystal Falls, passed away August 23, 2012 at Iron County Medical Care Facility, Crystal Falls. She was born in South Haven, Mich., and was a long-time resident of Crystal Falls. Laura was a very active member of the Order of Eastern Star, the Michigan Gladiolus Society, Wisconsin Gladiolus Society, and a long-time member of the North American Gladiolus Council. She was named the Grand Champion 10 years in a row at the Upper Peninsula State Fair for her prized gladiolas. Laura will forever be known for her beautiful and award winning gladiola flowers. Along with her husband, Walter, they owned and operated Wiggins Dairy in Crystal Falls. She was a member of United Lutheran Church, Crystal Falls. Laura is survived by one son, Wesley (Shelly) Wiggins, Iron Mountain, Mich.; two daughters, Susan (John) DePotie, Crystal Falls, Joyce (Robert) Jacobs, Jacksonville, Ark.; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three sisters; two sisters-in-law, and a host of family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter, grandson, Michael, granddaughter, Cheryl, two sisters and four brothers. The visitation will be Sunday, August 26, 2012, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Jacobs-Plowe Funeral Home, Crystal Falls. The Order of Eastern Star will offer a memorial service, Sunday, 3:45 p.m. at the funeral home. The funeral service will be held Monday, August 27, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at United Lutheran Church, Crystal Falls. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Crystal Falls.
