Iron Mountain- Larry R. Johnson, age 73, passed away on Thursday, March 24, 2022, at the Oscar G Johnson VA Medical Center, Iron Mountain, Mich.

He was born May 16, 1948, in Foster City, Mich., son of the late Rasmus and Pearl (Fayas) Johnson. Larry grew up in Foster City and graduated from Felch High School. Following graduation, he proudly served in the United States Army until his honorable discharge. On December 18, 1971, he was united in marriage to JoAnn Murra. She preceded him in death on October 17, 2019. Larry was a hard worker and worked many decades in the forest industry as a logger.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, nature, and the simpler things in life. Larry enjoyed looking at his father's memoirs and old letters in his later years. He was an excellent marksman and was well versed in carpentry and building.

Survivors include one son, Jeremy (Molly) Johnson, Lake Odessa, Mich.; one daughter, Shawna (Emenson) Exilus, Ponta Vedra, Florida; four grandchildren, Evan, Ava, Riley, and Cailyn; three brothers, Rodney Johnson, Iron Mountain, Mich., Scott Johnson, Foster City, Mich., and Curt Johnson, Foster City, Mich.; and by two sisters, Kathy (Terry) Murray, Foster City, Mich., and Linda Johnson, Suring, Wis.

In addition to his parents and wife, JoAnn, Larry was preceded in death by one brother, Mark Johnson.

A graveside service will be held on May 14, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at the Foster City Cemetery, Foster City, Mich. The service will be officiated by Pastor Darryl Ditmer. The Felch-Breen VFW Post# 4803 will accord military honors at the graveside. Immediately following the burial, there will be a luncheon at the Foster City Mission Covenant Church.
