Obituary

Kenneth "Clicky" Shampo, 81, of Niagara, passed away, Saturday, January 12, 2013, at Dickinson County Healthcare System, Iron Mountain, Mich. He was born December 3, 1931, in Niagara, son of the late William and Elizabeth (Jardeen) Shampo. Clicky was a lifelong resident of Niagara, graduating from Niagara High School. After graduation, Clicky worked at Kimberly Clark Paper Mill until he enlisted in the Navy. Clicky served as a cook, from January 1954 to February 1956. While in the service, he received the National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal with two Engagement Stars, United Nations Service Medal, Navy Occupation Service Medal with a European Clasp. After being discharged from the Navy, he returned to Kimberly Clark Paper Mill, working in the woodyard until retiring April 4, 1994. He married the love of his life, Geraldine Ann Carl, on August 27, 1959. As well as working at the mill, he owned and operated the Square Deal Chain Saw Shop for several years. Clicky enjoyed working on his Hobby Farm and loved all his animals, especially "Mike" the horse, but his greatest joy was his grandkids. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Gerry; two sons, David Shampo and Donald (Tracy) Shampo, both of Niagara; two daughters, Linda (Dale) Blagec and Lisa (Robert) Wells, both of Niagara; nine grandchildren, Ian and Corrina Shampo, Evan and Ethan Blagec, Brittany Dertz and Ross Shampo, Allison, Isabel and Abigail Wells; one brother, Dr. Dale (Lucy) Shampo, Iron Mountain; two sisters, Lorraine (Bill) Marsh, West Bend, Wis. and Donna Shampo, Niagara. Along with his parents, Clicky was preceded in death by his oldest brother, Gerald and infant brother, Curtis. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 15, 2013, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Jacobs Funeral Home, Niagara Chapel. The Memorial Service will be celebrated 11:30 a.m., at the funeral home. Rev. Matt Settle will officiate. Burial will be in Niagara Cemetery. The American Legion Cretton-Tutas Post No. 136 will accord full military honors at graveside.
