Kenneth E. Peronto, age 82, of Hardwood, Mich., passed away Thursday, May 18, 2006, at Jacobetti Home for Veterans in Marquette, Mich.
Ken married his wife Leatrice on September 27, 1946, in Foster City, Michigan. She preceded him in death on March 25, 2003. They resided in Iron Mountain for a few years before moving to Hardwood in 1952. Ken received two purple hearts while serving in the U.S. Army from 1943-1945. He worked for Clairmont Transfer for 33 years, retiring in 1981. He was a member of the Mission Covenant Church in Foster City, and the Felch-Breen American Legion Post 4803 of Felch. Ken loved hunting deer and turkey, and was an avid Packer fan.
He is survived by two sons, James (Bonnie) Peronto of Fond Du Lac, Wis., Kurt (Dawn) Peronto of Hardwood, Mich; two sisters Opal Larson of Aurora, Wis., and Mildred Carlson of Escanaba; four grandchildren, Jim (Angela) Peronto of Anchorage, Alaska, Ryan Peronto of Waupun, Wis., Christopher (Jessica Wahlstrom) Peronto of Iron Mountain, Shannon (Charles) Cowling of Hardwood; and four great grandchildren, Savannah, Hunter, Trinity, and Dylan.
Besides his parents and his wife Leatrice, Ken was preceded by one grandson Steven Peronto, three brothers Lyle, Russell, and Milton Peronto.
Visitation will be Sunday, May 21, 2006, 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at Jacobs Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. The Felch-Breen American Legion Post 4803 will offer Veteran's services 1:45p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Funeral services will be Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Larry Neargarth will officiate. Burial will be in Foster City Cemetery.
