Kenneth L. Kosutich, 73, of Ralph, Mich., passed away Thursday, May 14, 2009, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital, Iron Mountain.
He was born March 12, 1936, in Detroit, Michigan, son of the late Steve and Anne (Komatz) Kosutich. Kenneth graduated from Pinconning High School, Class of 1954. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. Kenneth married the former Nancy Lewandowski in 1959, in Bay City, Mich.
Kenneth worked several years as a credit manager for J.I. Case, Co. He was also co-owner of Gaylord Steel and Tigerline Trailer Company, both in Gaylord. Most recently, Ken, along with his wife, Nancy, owned and operated the Hunters Bar in Ralph, Mich.
He was a member of the NRA, the United Sportsman Club in Gaylord, where he served as the treasurer, American Legion Post No. 50, of Iron Mountain, the Moose Lodge, Palmetto, Fla., and the DAV. Kenneth also served as President of the United Way and Little League, both in Gaylord. He enjoyed coaching little league and teaching hunter safety in Gaylord for several years. Kenneth was a proud recipient of the Michigan State Police Citizens Award for assisting the state police in a crime.
Kenneth loved to hunt and fish, and was especially proud of his grandson, Ben's accomplishment of handling firearms that he taught him. He loved to have political debates with people. Ken and Nancy enjoyed spending their winters in Palmetto, Fla.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy; one son, Ken Kosutich, Jr., Iron Mountain; one daughter, Karen (Marty) Jensen, Foster City, Mich.; and one grandson, Ben Jensen, Foster City.
