Keith C. Podell, 69, of Sagola, passed away Friday, March 18, 2011 at Dickinson County Healthcare System, Iron Mountain. Keith was born on October 31, 1941 in Denham, Indiana, son of the late Michael and Nellie (James) Podell. He grew up and attended school in Indiana. Keith went to work for the Ford Motor Company in Chicago Heights in their stamping plant. He worked as a fork-lift operator for over 30 years, retiring from Ford in 1989. Shortly after retirement Keith moved to Sagola where he was a member of the Grace Presbyterian Church and was a first responder for Sagola Township. Keith enjoyed hunting and collecting knives and guns as well as other items. Keith was a member of the North American Hunting Club, the NRA, and the United Autoworkers Union. Keith is survived by four sons, Michael Podell, Las Vegas, Nev., Irv (Jay) Podell, Winamac, Ind., Rob (Brandy) Emole, Sauk Village, Ill., Bryan (Chong) Frank, Crete, Ill.; four daughters, Florence (Steve) Hobby, LaPorte, Ind., Veronica Emole, South Bend, Ind., Carrie (Aaron) Murphy, Boswell, Ind., Loneita (Rex) Schrooder, Valparaiso, Ind.; one brother, Orville (Betty) Podell, Winamac, Ind.; one sister, Barbara (George) Stump, South Bend, Ind.; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Sunday, March 20, 2011 from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at the Jacobs-Plowe Funeral Home, Crystal Falls and Monday, March 21, from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Funeral Services will be Monday 11:00 a.m. at the Jacobs-Plowe Funeral Home, Crystal Falls. Rev. David Anderson will officiate.
