Iron Mountain – June M. Gilbert, 70, of Iron Mountain, Mich., passed away on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at her home with her family by her side.

She was born on September 11, 1953, in Ishpeming, Mich., to the late Randolph and Joanne (Rice) Anderson. She graduated from Ishpeming High School, class of 1971. She married Garvin "Dave" Gilbert on June 10, 1994, at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Iron Mountain, Mich.

June worked at Super One for over 30 years, where she met many friends. A renaissance woman, she was naturally gifted with creativity in everything she did. June was an amazing baker and cook, always trying out new recipes and feeding family and friends. June loved spending time in the great outdoors gardening, camping, rock hounding, kayaking, and simply enjoying the beauty of nature. She loved traveling, thrifting and trying new things. Her heart of gold and thoughtful loving kindness blessed so many lives and she will be dearly missed.

She is survived by her husband of twenty-nine years, Garvin "Dave" Gilbert; and their beloved animal companions, Kona, Laci, and Oliver; son, Jeremy (Nicole Gompert) Shiner; daughters, Nicole (Kevin) Bracken, Krista Shiner, Mandy Gilbert, and Stacy (Kyle) Oman; sister, Connie (Steve) Gaboury; mother-in-law, Donna Gilbert; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Michael (Judy) Gilbert, Betty (Greg) Marshall, and Carol (Robert) Mobley; grandchildren, Ava Oman, Mya Oman, Kaylee (Dylan) Hoffert, Makenna Martinez, and Magnolia Gilbert; great-grandson, Leo Hoffert; nieces, Melissa (Jason) Thill, and Jessica (Paul) Raihala; and nephew, Casey (Amber Croschere) Anderson.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Peggy Anderson.

A Celebration of June's Life will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2024, from 12:00 noon until 6:00 p.m. at Cowboy Lake Pavillion, Kingsford, Mich.
