Julie A. Frorenza, age 59, of Iron Mountain, Mich., passed away Monday, January 21, 2019, at Dickinson County Healthcare System, Iron Mountain, Mich.

She was born December 23, 1959, in Detroit, Mich., daughter of the late Max and Esther (Montgomery) Rasmussen. Julie grew up in Dearborn, Mich. and attended Sacred Heart Elementary School and later graduated from Dearborn High School, class of 1978. She married Samuel "Sam" J. Frorenza on September 10, 1982, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Dearborn, Mich. They resided in Dearborn and California for a few years, before moving to Iron Mountain in 1989. Julie worked for the Iron Mountain Public Schools as a teacher aid for many years. She also worked for Ace Hardware in Kingsford as their paint manager for nine years.

Julie enjoyed crafting, painting, decorating, the Detroit Lions, and most recently receiving an autographed football by Lions quarterback Matt Stafford. She was truly a caring and thoughtful wife, mother, sister, friend and Nona. Julie was an authentic soul. Her smile and energy lit up the room and her wonderful sense of humor and joy was contagious. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.

Survivors include her loving husband of 36 years, Sam Frorenza; two sons, Zack (Beth Gribble) Frorenza, Appleton, Wis. and Max Frorenza, Iron Mountain, Mich.; two daughters, Carly (Derek) Lambert, Iron Mountain, Mich. and Allie Frorenza, Marquette, Mich.; two brothers, John Rasmussen, Royal Oak, Mich. and Bill Rasmussen, Lower Michigan; one sister, Mary Barrie, Adrian, Mich.; and one granddaughter, Lucy, whom she loved very much.

In addition to her parents, Julie was preceded in death by two brothers, Nick and Chris Rasmussen; and one brother-in-law, Pat Barrie.
