Julia Laurent, 86, of Madison, Wis., formerly of Crystal Falls, died Thursday, February 22, 2007, at Sunny Hill Nursing Home, Madison. She was born December 7, 1920, in Amasa, daughter of the late George and Esther (Kovach) Kassa. On July 10, 1940, she married John Laurent. He preceded her in death on April 26, 1981. Julia graduated from Amasa High School, class of 1940. She lived most all her life in the Crystal Falls area. Survivors include two grandchildren, Chris Laurent, Sun Prairie, Wis., Nicole Laurent, Madison, and two great-grandchildren, Jordan and Emma Laurent. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, Gerald Laurent, and one sister, Margaret Alexa. Visitation will be 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 1, 2007, at Guardian Angels Catholic Church, Crystal Falls. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, 11:00 a.m., at the church. The Rev. James Challancin will officiate. Burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Crystal Falls.
