Judith M. Smith, 76, of Hamilton Lakes, passed away Sunday, January 8, 2012, at Oak Crest Assisted Living, Norway. She was born June 25, 1935, in Chicago, Ill., daughter of the late Charles and Ann (Posadzy) Gery. Judith was raised in the Chicago area and graduated from St. Josaphat High School in Chicago. After high school, she became a model for a short period of time. Judith married Edward "Wally" Smith on April 7, 1955, in Chicago. He preceded her in death on January 25, 1988. Judith and Wally lived in Chicago until 1960, at which time they moved to the suburb of Country Club Hills just outside of Chicago. They resided there until August of 1975, when they moved to the Hamilton Lakes area. Judy and her husband owned and operated UP Reports Insurance Company from 1975 until retiring in 1990. She was a member of St. Barbara Catholic Church, Vulcan. Judith enjoyed fishing, playing 21, and all types of flowers. Judith is survived by one son, Kevin (Jeanne) Smith, Iron Mountain; seven grandchildren, Nicole, Tiffany, Judi, Kevin, Shane, Laurie, Jeffrey; many great-grandchildren, and a very special friend Annie Schultz, Hamilton Lakes. Private family graveside services will be held. Burial will be in Norway Township Cemetery.
