Joyce H. Smith, age 85, of Niagara, Wisconsin, passed away Friday, October 27, 2006,

at NewCare Convalescent Center in Crivitz, Wis.

She was born October 25, 1921, in Niagara, Wis., daughter of Henry and Iva (Thomas)

Hendricks. She married Dwayne Smith October 27, 1945 in Niagara, Wis. He preceded her in death in 1988.

Joyce was a lifelong resident of Niagara. She graduated from Niagara High School in 1939. She was employed in the office at Kimberly Clark from 1941 – 1959, and at Niagara High School Principal's office from September 1959 – June 1983. Joyce was a member of the Riverside United Methodist Church, United Methodist Church Women, Friends of the Library, and the Niagara Historical Society. Some of her hobbies were golfing, bowling, swimming, reading, knitting, crafts, and sewing.

Survivors include two sons, David (Susan) Smith, Coleman, Wis., Donald (Cynthia) Smith, Iron Mountain; two brothers, Henry "Chummy" (Lydia) Hendricks, Kingsford, Mich., James (Nyna) Hendricks, Florence, Wis.; one sister, Marge (John) Burbey, Niagara, Wis.; three grandchildren, Darron, Tara and Cole.

Besides her parents and husband Dwayne, Joyce was preceded in death by three brothers, Commodore, August, and Kenneth Hendricks; and two sisters Elizabeth Becker and Ruth Phillips.

Visitation will be Monday, October 30, 2006, 4:00 – 5:30 p.m., at Riverside United Methodist Church Niagara. Memorial Services will be 5:30 p.m. at the church. Pastor Pat Nolet will officiate. Burial will be in Niagara Cemetery.
