Iron River – Joyce M. Smith, 84, of Iron River, Mich., passed away on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at her home with her family by her side.

She was born on December 2, 1939, in Chicago, Ill., to the late Judson and Marie (Bruning) Hammerschmidt.

She graduated from Lakeview High School, class of 1957. She married Raymond "Ray" Smith on May 10, 1958, he preceded her in death on December 10, 2020.

She is survived by her son, David Smith; daughters, Kathy Smith, and Beth (Tom) Soma; four grandchildren, Jaclyn Hollars, Samantha Meyer, David Smith, Jr., and Tana Soma; and great-grandchild, Dominic Smith.

In addition to her parents and husband of sixty-two years, she was preceded in death by her son, Alan Smith; and her brother, Glen Hammerschmidt.
