Obituary

Joyce Knutson, 84, of Niagara, Wis., passed away Monday, December 15, 2008, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital, Iron Mountain. She was born September 8, 1924, in Niagara, daughter of the late Arthur and Angeline (Stanker) Laurent. Joyce grew up in Niagara and graduated from Niagara High School in 1942. She married Bernard Knutson January 6, 1945, at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Niagara. Joyce worked as a cook for 29 years at Niagara High School. She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, and St. Anthony Council of Catholic Women. Joyce enjoyed knitting, crocheting, fishing, camping, traveling, and especially spending time with her family and friends. She is survived by her husband, Bernard; two sons, Ron Knutson, Tacoma, Wash., Thomas (Christy) Knutson, Crivitz, Wis.; one daughter, Sherry Knutson, Phoenix, Ariz.; one sister, Mickey Haydon, Iron River, Mich.; three grandchildren, Tracy, Lisa, Julie; three great-grandchildren, Madeline, Lauren, Gavin; many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Saturday, July 11, 2009, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Niagara. The Memorial Mass will be Saturday 11:00 a.m., at the church. Rev. Matt Settle will officiate.
