Joseph G. Kowalski, age 87, of Mansfield Township, died Saturday, May 14, 2005 at Bellin Health Systems, Green Bay, Wisc.
He was born March 13, 1918 in Chicago, Ill., son of the late Alexander and Frances (Dombkowski) Kowalski. In 1942 in St. Louis, MO. He married the former Signe Ohlin. She preceded him in death on March 2, 1989.
Joe and his wife owned and operated a grocery business in Chicago for many years. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in the (CBI), China, Burma, and India theatres and attained the rank of S.Sgt. Joe was a member of the Catholic War Veterans Post No. 201, Chicago, Illinois.
Survivors include two sisters, Wanda Hendricks and Lorraine Alger, Thorp, Wisc., nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Signe Kowalski, brothers and one sister.
The Funeral Mass will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 18, 2005 at Guardian Angels Catholic Church, Crystal Falls. Rev. Fr. Dino Silvestrini will officiate. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, Crystal Falls. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the Jacobs - Plowe Funeral Home, Crystal Falls and again Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
