Joseph L. Giachino, 72, of Iron Mountain, passed away Wednesday, October 15, 2008, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital, Iron Mountain.
He was born April 3, 1936, in Iron Mountain, son of the late James and Edna (Schupp) Giachino. Joseph was a graduate of Northern Michigan University.
Joseph had a passion for sports as well as a memory for statistics, he pitched fast pitch softball for 35 years in the local area. Joseph was an avid collector of Elvis memorabilia. He was a member of the National Guard, Elks Club, and the Paisano Club. Joe operated Giachino's Menswear, J & M Limo Service, J & K Taxi, and most recent J & M Courier.
Joseph was loved by everyone who met him. He was a very giving, compassionate, and loving man. He was also a very dedicated husband and father. We are all incredibly blessed to have had him in our lives!!
He is survived by his wife, Margery, Iron Mountain; one son, Brian Giachino; three step-children, Kristina (Jon) Koski, Britte Lyyski, Ryan Lyyski; one sister, Rose (Dan) Miron; six grandchildren, Lexi, Trent, Derek, Brody, Cayden, Alayna; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathy.
Pallbearers will be Tom Burlo, Willie Erickson, Wish Olson, Michael Laydon, Robert Hilpertshauser, Jon Koski, and Ryan Lyyski.

Visitation will be Friday, October 17, 2008, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron Mountain. Prayers will be offered Friday, 4:30 p.m. at the funeral home. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, 5:00 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Iron Mountain. Msgr. James Kaczmarek will officiate. Inurnment will be in Cemetery Park, Iron Mountain.
