JoAnn Halls, 82, Alpha, passed away Monday, August 19, 2013, at her home. She was born December 20, 1930 in Alpha, Mich., daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Gryskewicz) Burak.
JoAnn graduated from Alpha High School in 1948. She married Bob Halls on January 31, 1953, in Crystal Falls, Mich. They resided in Alpha for a brief period of time before moving to Mundelein, Ill. While living in Illinois she worked at various restaurants before going to work for the Ball Corporation, where she worked for over 20 years. JoAnn and Bob moved back to Alpha in the early 1990's.
She enjoyed many hobbies including, crossword puzzles, canning, and flower gardening.
JoAnn is survived by her loving husband, Bob, of over 60 years; one daughter, Nancy (Steve Martin) Lauer, Arlington Heights, Ill.; two sisters, Bernice Kambol, Springfield, Ore., Maryn DalLago, Mundelein; numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, JoAnn was preceded in death by three brothers, Joseph, John, and Henry Burak; three sisters, Stella O'Brien, Stephanie Lucas, Helen Boler
Private family services were held. Burial will be in Breitung Township Cemetery, Quinnesec, Mich.
