Joan Peters, 83, of Iron Mountain, passed away Saturday, September 29, 2012, at Hyland Nursing Home, Iron Mountain.

She was born March 1, 1929, in Norway, Mich., to the late Joseph and Elsie (Backlund) Guiliani. Joan married Clifford Peters and he preceded her in death in 1989.

Joan was a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses Kingdom Hall of Kingsford, Mich. She loved to crochet and read. Joan also loved to go to weddings so that she could dance the polka and also enjoyed listening to country music.

She is survived by two daughters, Joan Ellen (Chris) Salli, Janice Peters; three grandchildren, Sunshine, Robert and Francis Peters; two great-grandchildren, Lance and Carson Peters; one sister, Gloria Sleik; one brother-in-law, Frank Matousek; one sister-in-law, Theresa Guiliani; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, as well as special Aunt, Anne Guiliani.

Along with her loving husband, Joan was preceded in death by one son, Ronald Peters; two brothers, Joseph and Robert Guiliani; one sister, Bernadette Matousek; one brother-in-law, Douglas Sleik, Sr.
