Obituary

Jerome P. Waldron, 83, of Iron River passed away Sunday, August 31, 2014, at the Iron County Medical Care Facility, Crystal Falls, Mich. He was born February 13, 1931, in Crystal Falls, son of the late Clarence and Evelen (Medler) Waldron. Jerome graduated from Stambaugh High School, Class of 1949. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1949, until his honorable discharge in 1951. Jerome attended Northern Michigan University in 1954, and received his certificate in Library Science in 1956. He married Nancy Christofferson on October 11, 1969. Jerome worked at Hart High School and Forest Park Schools as a Librarian, retiring in 1986. Jerome was a member of the American Legion Reino Post No. 21 and the VFW Post No. 3134, Iron River. He enjoyed many hobbies including: collecting rocks, photography and making pine needle baskets. Jerome was an avid computer user and communicated with many friends all over the world. Jerome is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Nancy; three daughters, Mary (Michael) Omillian, Two Rivers, Wis., Ann (Kent) Lewis, Caspian, Mich. and Ellen (Joseph) Lopez, Iron River; his mother-in-law, Ruth Christofferson, Iron River; one brother-in-law, Don (Paraskevi) Christofferson, Bates Twp.; two sisters-in-law, Darlene (Art) Felber, Slinger, Wis. and Julie (Bill) Groves, Rialto, Calif. and three grandchildren, Matthew Omillian and Faith and Brian Lewis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, David Waldron. Visitation will be held Friday, September 5, 2014, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, Iron River. Funeral Services will be held Friday, 11:00 a.m.at the church. Rev. Dawn Treado-Green will officiate. Burial will be in Stambaugh Township Cemetery, Stambaugh, Mich. Westside Veteran's Council will accord Military Honors at graveside. The family has chosen the Jacobs-Plowe Funeral Home, Crystal Falls to honor Jerome's Legacy of Life.
