Jerome "Jerry" V. Sparapani, 77, of Crystal Falls, passed away Thursday, April 12, 2012, at Iron County Medical Care Facility, Crystal Falls. He was born November 22, 1934, in Iron Mountain, Mich., son of the late Victor and Jean (Peterson) Sparapani. Jerry married Carol Schoeppe on April 11, 1964. Jerry received his Mechanical Engineering Degree from Houghton Mining College, now Michigan Technological University. He was an outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting. Jerry was a member of the Union Local III Pipe Fitters of the Upper Peninsula. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in the Corps of Engineers. He is survived by his wife, Carol Sparapani, Iron Mountain; two sons, Steve (Selina) Sparapani, Iron River, Michael Sparapani, Kingsford; one daughter, Kathleen (Steve) Tegge, Troy, Mich.; one brother, Ricky (Barbara) Sparapani, Iron Mountain; three sisters, Lee Ann (Glenn) Goodman, Iron Mountain, Darlene Smith, Iron Mountain, Christine (James) Beauchamp, Quinnesec; four grandchildren, Danielle, Troy, June, and Lydia Tegge. The visitation will be Monday, April 16, 2012, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at United Lutheran Church, Crystal Falls. The funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday at the church. Rev. Micheal Laakko will officiate. The East Side Veterans Council will accord military rites at graveside. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Crystal Falls.
