Jennie D. Melelli, 91, of Iron Mountain, passed away Sunday, June 7, 2009, at ManorCare Health Services, Kingsford. She was born June 24, 1917, in Iron Mountain, daughter of the late Domenic and Theresa (Spera) Gasbarro. Jennie married Eugene Melelli on June 18, 1938, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Iron Mountain. He preceded her in death in March, 1958. Jennie and Eugene owned and operated Gene's Bar in Iron Mountain from 1938 to 1960. She then went on to work at Merle Norman for 13 years, from 1972 to 1985. Jennie was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Daughters of Isabella, Paisano Club, and the VFW Auxillary, Norway. She is survived by one son, Gene Terry (Cheryl) Melelli, Iron Mountain; two sisters, Caroline Hansen, Iron Mountain, Mafalda (Irish) Daley, Iron Mountain; one sister-in-law, Myrtyl Gasbarro, Gwinn, Mich.; many nieces and nephews. Jennie was preceded in death by six brothers, Alfred, Fiore, Armond, Sam, David, and Joseph Gasbarro.
