Kingsford – Jeffery R. Johnson, 35, of Kingsford, Mich., passed away on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at Marshfield Medical Center-Dickinson, Iron Mountain, Mich.

He was born on April 24, 1989, in Iron Mountain, Mich., to Russell Johnson and Gina (Rice) Dettman.

Jeff grew up in Iron Mountain, Mich., and was a graduate of Kingsford High School, class of 2007. After graduating high school, he attended Michigan Technological University in Houghton, Mich.

Jeff was a passionate man who was straight to the point. He possessed one of the kindest hearts and opened his home to anybody who needed a place to stay. Known for his own brand of wit and satire he loved to crack a joke at anybody's expense. He took great joy in watching stand-up comedy and had volumes of TV show quotes ready to fire off. Jeff was an accomplished bowler, avid horticulturist, and skilled woodworker. He was beloved and respected by the many online gaming communities in which he participated. Jeff felt most at peace when he spent time at the Johnson family camp with his dog and loved ones.

He is survived by his mother and step-father, Gina and Tim Dettman; father and step-mother, Russell and Mickey Johnson; brothers, Braden (Kaytlin) Dettman, Kyle Dettman, and Joseph Johnson; sister, Nicole Johnson; step-brother, Ryan Anderson; step-sister, Krista Niemela; aunt, Kathy Rice; lifelong best friend, Kody Desmarais; and beloved dog Dexter.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Corrine and Amos Rice, Roy and Elaine Johnson, and Carol and Lionel Lauzon; aunt and godmother, Jeannine Finley; uncle and godfather, Darrell Finley; and uncle, Michael Rice.
