Obituary

Niagara – Jean M. Zychowski, 91, of Niagara, WI, gently passed away on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at Maryhill Manor, Niagara.

She was born on July 16, 1934, in Norway, MI, to the late Joseph and Esther (Bacca) Servia.

Jean was a graduate of Bessemer High School, class of 1952. She married Joseph Zychowski on April 16, 1955, at Saint Sebastian Catholic Church in Bessemer, MI.

Jean’s faith and love of Jesus was at her core. She used the joy of the Lord to celebrate, educate, and have fun with children of all ages. Jean held a special place in her heart for her special needs students and for the 33 years spent as Z-Dog at Camp Bird.

Community was important to Jean whether it be participating in the American Legion or serving in various capacities at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church or Maryhill Manor. Her heart for prayer made her many peoples go to person when they were in need. Besides praying for and with people Jean offered amazing hugs, heartfelt notes, and her go to smiley faces.

Jean found her calling as Grandma. She encouraged and cheered on each of her grandkids as they participated in their passions. This meant she learned about many sports, sat at many concerts, and was present at everything she could attend.

Jean is survived by her husband of seventy-one years, Joseph “Joe” Zychowski; son, Gary (Gayle) Zychowski; daughter, Sharon (Joe) Paprocki; grandchildren, Lindsey Paprocki, Jeremy Paprocki, Brianna (Jake) Dostalek, Marissa (Andrew) Ross, and Zachary (Karlie) Zychowski; great-grandchildren, Elijah, Rowan, Briggs, Wrenley, Carlee, Jameson, Gabby, and Viggo; and her loving nieces, and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Stanley Servia; and sister, Lucille Gardner.

Her “Honey” Joe and her family would like to extend their deep appreciation for the loving care and patience demonstrated by the staff at Maryhill Manor. From all of us we send you a “buziaki (kiss.)”

Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m., on Friday, June 12, 2026, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Niagara. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m., at the church with Rev. Fr. Joseph Dorner officiating. Burial will be in Norway Township Cemetery.
