Jean M. Niemi, 85, of Aurora, Wis., passed away Wednesday, April 18, 2007, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital, Iron Mountian, Mich. She was born July 29, 1921, in Iron Mountain, daughter of the late Alfred and Emma (Archie) St. Louis. She married Roland R. Niemi Sr. in Bessemer, Mich. When the mines closed, they moved to Milwaukee, Wis. until returning to Iron Mountain in 1980. Jean had a great sense of humor and loved spending time with her family. She is survived by one son, Roland (Sandra) Niemi, Marinesco, Mich.; four daughters, Gloria (Ray) Simmons, White Pine, Mich., Bonnie (Warren) Williams, Aurora, Carol (Gerda) Niemi, Milwaukee, Mary (Clyde) Niemi, Aurora; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, Roland, Jean was preceded in death by three sisters; two grandchildren, "Baby" Ray Simmons Jr., Linda Favero; two great-grandchildren, Stephanie and Brianna Charles. Visitation will be Sunday, April 22, 2007, from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM, at Jacobs Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. The memorial service will be Sunday 2:30 PM at the funeral home.
