Jean Karle FLORENCE, Wis. — Jean E. Karle, 87, of Florence died Sunday, Jan. 19, 2003, at the Florence Villa Nursing Home in Florence. She was born Sept. 27, 1915, in Commonwealth, Wis., daughter of the late Ernest and Bertha (Durand) Poulin. She was a resident of the area all her life and graduated from Florence High School in 1934. Following her graduation she worked as a teacher's aide. Jean married August Karle on April 30, 1937, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Florence. Together they operated a dairy farm and raised three boys. She was an avid gardener and baker and won many ribbons for her endeavors at the county fair. Jean and August traveled extensively throughout the United States, Canada and Europe. She was a lifelong member of St. Mary Catholic Church. She taught catechism and was a member of the Altar Society. She also assisted the people in the nursing home for Masses. Jean will be sadly missed by all. She is survived by her husband, August; two sons, Thomas (Karen) Karle of Florence and James (Barbara) Karle of Kingsford; One sister Genevieve Mish of Waunakee, WI., One sister-in-law Marie Poulin of Kingsford, MI. 12 grandchildren, Susan, Robert, Michael, Lisa, Christopher, Lori, Vicky, Patrick, Sarah and Rory Karle and Travis and Melissa Soppa, and 11 great-grandchildren. Jean was preceded in death by a son, Robert, and a brother, Ernest. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Jacobs-Lundholm Funeral Home of Florence. Prayers will be recited at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary Catholic Church in Florence. Fr. Michael Betley will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery in Commonwealth, Wis. Pallbearers will be Mark Karle, Chris Karle, Bill Scheffler, Donald Bloome, Edward LeFleur and Frank Bednarski.
