Fence- Janice Joy Zirbel, 82, of Fence, Wisc., passed away on Friday, August 16, 2024, at her home surrounded by her family.

Janice was born on August 30, 1941, in Sturgeon Bay, Wisc., the only child of the late Robert and Helen (Leonhardt) Creighton.

She graduated from Sturgeon Bay High School in 1959. Later that year, on September 19, 1959, she married the love of her life, Richard Zirbel. Janice had many hobbies, including painting, ceramics, jewelry making, sewing, quilting, embroidering, and raising dogs. One of her dogs, Doug, became the second-in-the-nation at Champion of the Westminster Kennel Club. She had an Irish Setter, who gave birth to 17 puppies on St. Patrick's Day. Janice also enjoyed camping in the winter on Dauphin Island. She worked at Kaukauna Cheese for twenty-eight years. She was an active member of Balsam Street Christian Church in Kingsford, Mich.

She is survived by her husband, Richard Zirbel; son, John (Hope) Zirbel; daughters Martha Vandenbroek and Cynthia Kamke; grandchildren Heather (Chris) Sandford, John Koester, Dylan Koester, Elizabeth (Andy) Watters, Henry Vandenbroek, Joshua (Jade) Kamke, Tracy (James) Hurda, and Victoria (Steve) Boon; and 23 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Janice was preceded in death by her grandchildren, Shaun Zirbel, and Natasha Koester; great-grandchild, Joey Hose; son-in-law, Mitchell Vandenbroek; and by her in-laws, Lawrence and Addaline Zirbel.

Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 30, 2024, at Balsam Street Chrisitan Church, Kingsford, Mich. A Memorial Service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the church.
